WHAT: NAVIGATING THE ROADMAP OF A DIVERSE JOB MARKET

With a multigenerational workforce in full swing and the job market more diverse than ever, candidates on the market for a job proactively seek organisations that provide equal opportunities to diverse backgrounds. As the UK’s second largest beauty and health retailer, Superdrug and Savers’ purpose is to be the best for everyday and accessible beauty. They strive to deliver exceptional customer service by having the best people who represent the wider community work for them.

WHY: FINDING SOLUTIONS TO CHALLENGES IN RECRUITMENT

Wanting to always do the best and challenge themselves when it comes to recruiting inclusively, Superdrug and Savers wanted to provide an update and refresher to the Talent Team. Additionally, internal data and research indicated that the team were seeing some specific challenges when recruiting new candidates and balancing the pipeline of diversity.

Superdrug & Savers approached DIAL Global with a request for the DIAL Academy to design and deliver training for the recruitment team to ensure candidates applying for roles at Superdrug and/or Savers consistently feel included.

HOW: EXPLORING RECRUITMENT BIAS THROUGH A BESPOKE WORKSHOP

The DIAL Academy created a bespoke Inclusive Hiring workshop which would help the Talent Teams understand various areas of recruiting diverse talents. Led by the learning team at DIAL Global, each workshop unravelled the types of recruitment bias that exist and explored the impact that stereotyping has. DIAL Global worked closely with the team to extract real data to identify recruitment patterns which could motivate the teams to drive change. Talent leads were given the opportunity to explore the recruitment journey by putting themselves in both the hiring manager and candidate’s shoes. This helped bring to life the feelings and emotions at various stages of the journey, whilst allowing for self-reflecting on actions they can take to make a positive change.

"This training has given me a real insight and
understanding to DIBE. It’s brought awareness of a lot of things we can implement to our process."

THE OUTCOME

The workshops prompted powerful conversations, allowing talent leads to dig deep into their own biases and views around diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity. All the attendees committed to real actions they could personally implement immediately and crowdsourced initiatives that Superdrug & Savers could undertake more holistically. Additionally, DIAL Academy was given a rating of 4.6/5 stars, with excellent feedback from talent leads.
