Heterosexual couples have used IVF for decades and still account for around 90% of all fertility patients, but the HFEA’s new ‘Family formations in fertility treatment' report reveals that other patient groups are now turning to IVF. The fertility regulator's latest data shows that in 2018 2,151 IVF treatment cycles were recorded for patients in female same-sex relationships, compared to only 320 in 2008. New statistics for this report are due early 2023.
