RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS
FROM EQUALITY TO EQUITY
HEADLINE PARTNERS
MARCH 01-02
VIRTUAL
Our focus for this event was on the shift from equality to equity. As responsible businesses we want to ensure we’re treating our people equitably and developing a strong culture of inclusion.
In recent years we’ve seen a lot of initiatives in the DIBE space, as more and more organisations take their first steps towards an inclusive workplace culture or accelerate their journey through research, learning, goals and scorecards etc.
This is all incredibly positive – but we also need to review and reflect on our initiatives, and be ready to adjust plans in order to stay on course in a changing world. With that in mind, we brought together some of the world’s most inspirational speakers and DIBE thought-leaders to guide and motivate us to reflect on how we can truly ensure we’re bringing not just diversity but also equity into all we do.
Throughout this event we tackled some sticky subjects and didn't shy away from difficult conversations. We heard discussions on Health Equity, Sustainable Investment, Workplace Accessibility, Social Mobility, Ethnicity Pay Gap Reporting and much more.
Allyship is an action. But what does that actually mean? If ERGs are considered to be the voice of the business, members who are allies have the power to support, advocate for and create an inclusive culture through all levels of the business. How then, are businesses encouraging allies and more importantly, recognising them within their ERGs?
For International Women’s Day 2023, DIAL Global is taking our summit theme – the shift from equality to equity – and looking at it through the lens of gender. We’re asking two powerhouse women from the world of finance about why, in the UK, 100 years after getting the vote, there’s still a significant gender gap in financial education, financial inclusion and in leadership roles in the financial sector.
According to PRI, "Investors have a very important role in advancing DIBE efforts for all groups in society, including indigenous communities, women, people of colour, religious minorities, and others. To act on DIBE, investors need to seek to shape inclusive corporate cultures, business models and societies". So, at a time when businesses need as much financial support as possible, is now the time for Investors to step up and enter the DIBE fight?
